Arjun P. Gupta is the Founder and CEO of Smart Joules, India’s leading energy efficiency company focused on slashing carbon emissions through intelligent cooling automation and large-scale energy savings. With a background in energy research from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and degrees from UC Berkeley and MIT, Arjun has led Smart Joules to save over 22 Cr kWh, cut 153,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, and deliver ₹178 crores in energy cost reductions across hospitals, data centers, and pharma manufacturing units. His work has earned recognition from the Prime Minister’s Office, UN, Economic Times, and multiple global institutions like the World Bank and ADB.
Beyond Smart Joules, Arjun contributes to India’s green transition as a board member of AEEE and part of IEEMA’s National Executive Council. He also founded The Sustainability Mafia, a nonprofit building India’s climate-tech ecosystem, having raised over ₹1.5 Cr in grants.
