He completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in the year 1975. He undertook a course in Management from IIM Ahmedabad.
He served in Blue Star for 15 years picking up experience in Design, Planning, Purchase, Project Execution and Sales. He left Blue Star to start his own organisation and named it Acrovent Systems Pvt Ltd. This set up deals in Consultancy of MEP Engineering Systems as well as Design and Build of HVAC&R systems, specialising in challenging and innovative designed systems.
Mr Barma is a founder member of ISHRAE, Kolkata Chapter since 1989. He has served ISHRAE in many positions at the Chapter level as well as the Regional level and Society level positions. He is a Presidential Member of ISHRAE. He is also a former President of ASHRAE, East India Chapter.
He has a passion for teaching HVACR subjects and has conducted and continues to do so many courses for Students, fresh Engineers, and refresher courses on behalf of ISHRAE.
